ENO Programme was awarded on 21st of September by the Society of Finnish Professional Foresters and Nordea Bank. The prize was given at Viikki School in Helsinki during The ENO Tree Planting Day. This award is called The Forestry Achievement of the Year 2009. The purpose is to award an unconventional and eye-catching achievement or idea that has promoted forestry or knowledge of Finnish forests. Lusto, the Finnish Forest Museum, was the first award-winner in 1995. The award comprises EUR 2,000 and a wooden work of art by Voitto Rahkonen, an artist from Juva, Finland ”ENO Programme is a new and diifferent way to get children and youth to know about forests in a both national and international context. The role of coordinator Mr Mika Vanhanen has been crucial in this programme and it has gronwn into a learning environment that has achieved international recognition, said the manager Mr Tapio Hankala from Society of Finnish Professional Foresters. According to Ms Sanna Ikävalko (Nordea Bank) "modern and attractive ways like ENO is needed to bring youth closer to forests and their importance."
